Out with the old, in with the new

I’ve decide to have a bit of a clear out and refresh. The previous site was beginning to show its age, looking a little dated with bits of code that had dropped out here and there. I’ve been meaning to get around to it for some time now and as it’s a long weekend I thought I’d dive right on in and at least get a start on it. So from this weekend my old ijax.co.uk becomes robi.me.uk.

I’ve also recently changed my hosting provider. It took some doing, I’ve been with my last host ‘Compila’ for over 10 years and couldn’t fault them, however they sold out to a larger firm ‘Vidahost’ and the service just wasn’t of the same standard. So with a heavy heart I moved on to greener pastures. I’ve used the guys I’m now with, www.bestwebhosting.co.uk, on one or two projects over the last year or two and haven’t had any major issues and any little niggles that have arose have been dealt with quickly and efficiently. Great value for money. Fingers crossed it’ll stay that way.

Adobe Creative Cloud LogoOpen Source Initiative LogoI’ll be writing posts mostly on the two subject which primarily keep me occupied, Graphic Design and Open Source / Free software. During my working day I predominantly use the Adobe Creative Cloud software rather than the open source alternatives. This is purely because Adobe products are currently the industry standard and it makes sense to use them when it comes down to file sharing. I do however use open source software whenever I can. I’ll try to post about the tools I use and their effectiveness as and when I stumble over the software I find useful.
